Argentina is the 2nd biggest country in South America. It was known for having the best silver in the world and Argentina means the land of silver. During 1914 Argentina had a big increase in crime, especially in Buenos Aries, the capital of Argentina. 

Bolivia, named after the Venezuelan General Simón Bolívar, is sadly one of the most poor countries in South America. This is due to the lack of human development the country has had all the way back to 1825. 

Brazil is the biggest country in South America. It was owned by the  Portuguese and it was the place where the Portuguese Royal Family fled during the Napoleonic Wars. Brazil did declare war on germany  In WW1 but didn't help as much as the United States or other countries in Europe

Chile is known for having a comically slim large border. It has the most driest desert called the Atacama Desert. The Chilean flag was influenced by the flag of the United States but the colors have a diffrent meaning.

Colombia was the first country to declare independence in South America. When it declared independence it had lands that included Colombia, Panama, Venezuela, Ecuador, northwest Brazil, and some parts of Peru. We call that Gran Colombia but that was not the country's official name.

As you probably noticed the Ecuador flag has some similarities to the Colombian flag. That is because Colombia used to own Ecuador. Ecuador declared independence in 1809 but it would take another 20 years for Ecuador to become a fully independent Republic.

Paraguay Used to be owned by the Empire of Brazil until the May Revolution where it got its independence. Paraguay had a stronger military for its size and during the War of the Triple Alliance Paraguay was able to hold off the two the two strongest countries in South America Along with Uruguay for five years. 

Peru is the home of the worlds most alpacas. Peru is also famously known for Guinea Pigs being a delicacy to eat. In 1821 Peru gained independence from Spain with the help of Simón Bolívar. He controlled Peru till 1826

Uruguay is a country that was born from a war. The war was the Argentina-Brazil War. Brazil used to own Uruguay until that war because Argentina wanted the land. After the British got involved it was decided that both sides should not have the land and it should become independent   

During 1914, Venezuela was in a crisis. This was because Former President Castro led a rebellion against the government beginning in August 1913, and government troops suppressed the rebellion in January 1914. Ever since its independence from Spain and Colombia, Venezuela was always unstable
