Afghanistan is known as the graveyard of empires due to whenever a major empire tried to invade the country it usually was stopped and then later most of those empires collapsed or lost power. 

Interestingly Bhutan did not have a flag at this time so instead I choose to put in the flag of the Wangchuck which was the royal dynasty that ruled Bhutan during that during that time. The dynasty started in 1907.

This is the Republic of China. It was created to get rid of the corruption in the Qing Dynasty, but the Republic of China had even more corruption than its predecessor. Ironic, isn't it?

Not much is known about this country, but it did help defect the Ottoman Empire during World War I. It is also known as the second iteration of the Third Saudi State, Confusing Right?

The Japanese Empire is famous for have the red sun and red beams but that's actually just the national flag but instead the wartime flag. The national flag of Japan in 1914 is still used to this day.

The flag of Mongolia is Definity an intreating one. in 1914 Mongolia was only a 3-year-old country, meaning it gained independence along with the fall of the Qing Dynasty in 1911.

One country that was never colonized was Nepal. Britian did invade Nepal because of its wool that was very profitable but they were able to keep some land and till this day they still have.

The Ottoman Empire, famous for being the strongest and weakest country in Europe. Another name for the Ottoman Empire you might have heard was the sick man of Europe due to its instability. That is why it collapsed during World War I.

Persia is an old name for the country and has been around since 600 B.C. You may know modern day Persia as Iran; they changed the name in 1935 because the government wanted to rename the country to what they usually call themselves, and they called themselves Iranians. 

Qatar was still independent during 1914! Britian would soon own Qatar two years later in 1916 after they signed a treaty. After the end of that treaty in 1917, Qatar was a independent country again.

Another country that survived colonization, and it was the only nation in its region that survied colonization due to its leaders wanting to modernize the military and instead of banning items from the west they used it to their advantage. 

Just like Mongolia, Tibet gained independence from the downfall of the Qing Dynasty. Unlike Mongolia, Tibet was annex into China in 1951 and today Tibet is now apart of modern day China.
