This is one of the many North American countries that was a part of the Central American Federation. It had independence in 1839 but didn't formally declare independence until 1848.

The current Cuban flags looked a little different than this one in 1914. That is because during the 1959 Cuban Revolution they change the flag along with having a new communist government installed 

This is the flag of the Dominican Republic and it is still used today. The flag is 159 years old but during this time the United States did not control the country but did have soldiers occupying it to preserve peace .

This is another one of the countries that was a part of the Central American Federation as you can see most Central American flags have somewhat of the same design. El Salvador gained Independence in 1839 but would be the only legal successor of the country until 1841.

This flag was adapted in 1871 and was kept till 1968 where they changed it to the modern day flag. Guatemala left the Central American Federation in 1939 being the second to last to leave the federation.

Haiti is famous for being the first Independent Caribbean country. It declared independence in 1804 from France after a slave uprising, which usually end in disaster for the people who are enslaved but In this uprising it was successful. 

Honduras declared independent in 1838 along with Costa Rica. Its flag is still the same the same one it uses today and the five stars on the flag symbolizes the Central American Federation.

Mexico gained Independence from Spain in 1810 and formed the Mexican Empire. It used to own all of Central America (Except Panama) and owned 14.9% of the land that the United States owns nowadays. 

Nicaragua was another country that was in the Central American Federation. It was the first country to leave the Federation in 1938 and the Federation disentraction began after it left starting a Civil War.

Panama is a Central American country but was never in the Central American Federation because it was owned by Colombia. It gained independence after the United States wanted to build a canal inside Panama. After building the Panama Canal the U.S occupied it for 76 years.

The United States is a country that is made up by fifty states. The U.S has a past that's filled with Imperialism and war. For example, they owned the Philippines, the Panama Canal and still owns Puerto Rico. This flag currently has forty-eight stars because there were only forty-eight states during 1914.
